Baylor's in First Grade!
Whaat?? I know, I said the same thing. I can't believe it! We started 1st grade this year & his teacher is Mrs. Glock. He goes to the same school that I work at, so that's nice. He's having a great time. Still the tiniest first grader, but the kiddos in his grade seem to get used to it! He can read books & he is kind of growing out his shyness. We had a long vacation for hurricane Ike so it's kind of like this is the first week of school again!

Hurrican Ike
Ah, hurrican Ike!! Well we stayed in a hotel room in Katy where the back window & back windshield were busted out of Adam's car :( I guess that was not totally out of harm's way. Our house flooded. However, our neighborhood has never ever flooded in 30 years, so all of our neighbors were shocked. All of the small cities around us are boating communities (Kemah, Seabrook, Clear Lake) so the most shocking thing about the storm was all the boats everywhere. There were boats in people's yards, in businesses, and on the highways. It was the strangest thing! We had anywhere from 3 in. to a foot of water in the house. So, we got power 13 days later & are now living in a house with no floors or walls! haha They cut 4 foot of sheetrock out throughout the house & we ripped out all flooring. We had the giant fans & dehumidifiers for about 4 days. It's a pain. However, we are very well insured (ahem, thank you, Adam), so I think we'll come out of this better off! I get new stuff-woohoo! ;)

Alaskan Cruise Pics2008
We just returned from a 7 day Alaskan cruise that Adam won through work- Aug 16-23, 2008. It was incredible! We saw lots of bald eagles, whales, & icebergs. Here's a picture of the two of us in front of an iceberg. It was August so it was summertime in Alaska, and the weather was anywhere from 50-60 degrees each day. Also, no rain for the entire week, which, is evidently remarkable for Alaska :). We visited Juneau, Sitka, & Ketchikan. 900 people on the cruise ship were from Adam's company & they treated us to everything. It was great. I'm sure I came home 10 pounds heavier with all the food! We came back on a Saturday and Baylor & I had the first day of school that Monday, so it was a nice little pre-school vacation.
Family Vacation 2008
Well, we took Baylor to St. Louis, MO this summer. It was a family trip that Adam won through work. We drove (ugh!), and we'll never do that again. We did get to go visit John & Laura in Dallas on the way, and we spent one night in Branson, MO. We're thinking about spending a whole vacation week in Branson some time. It was great. We spent 4 days in St. Louis at Union Station Hotel. The entire hotel was built around the old train station--very cool! We went to a Cardinals game, saw the arch, & visited the St. Louis Zoo & the Budweiser plant. It was fun! The drive home was not!
